One of my closest friends is having her first baby. Heather and I met back in our freshman year of college. We lived in the dorms two doors down and have been wonderful friends ever since. After we graduated from college, we rented her dad's house and were roommate for almost 10 years. We lived together for so long that she is in essence the sister I never had. Needless to say, she is near and dear to my heart. When she told me she was pregnant, I couldn't be any happier for her and immediately offered to throw her a baby shower. Her aunt also offered to host a shower for her so we joined forces to put on a shower. Of course, I volunteered to take care of the invitations.
I thought a bird theme would be very cute and when I went to visit her one day, the one thing she had bought for the baby's nursery happened to be bird wall decals. I was so happy and pleased. The bird theme was just meant to be. When I saw the bedding she registered for, I wanted to incorporate those colors and theme into the invitation and decor for the shower. So the colors were shades of purple and aqua with flowers. After several iterations and ideas, here is what the final invitation looked like.
